A word from our president...
I wanted to give everyone my final update on the TCAPWA for this year.
At our Board of Directors meeting yesterday the Board voted to recommend to the membership to vote NO on the recent request for a vote on a By-Law Change for the APWA. The By-Law change is a change in the membership of the National Nominating Committee. The Board feels that the quick notice of the request for the By-Law change and the lack of information on the reasoning behind the request for the change coupled with our thoughts that the input and vote of the Past-Presidents is an important part of the process that we recommend a NO vote for the change.
Please take time to go to APWA web-site to make your vote.
Also at the meeting yesterday we voted to send letters to several elected officials voicing our support for some sort of change to the funding for our infrastructure, specifically for road funding. Ken Donaldson and Mike Flatt will be working on that in the very near future. They will also be sending requests to Public Works Directors throughout the state to send letters to the elected officials in their areas.
This has been a great year for the TCAPWA. The Chapter is in excellent financial condition. We had a GREAT conference this year in Nashville. WE had a record number of rodeo participants. The conference had excellent attendance. The changes the conference committee made to the different parts of the conference added to the conference.
Congratulations goes to all the rodeo winners, the City of Nashville for the team rodeo trophy. I also want to congratulate all of the individual award recipients.
We have had three classes at the TPWI institute. They were all well attended. I had the privilege of being an instructor at one of the classes. The enthusiasm of the members of the class and their willingness to learn was more of a lesson to me than anything I was able to teach.
I was able to visit each Branch during the past year. The enthusiasm I felt at each meeting was a great feeling. I appreciate the welcome that each and every one of you showed me at the meetings.
Our newly elected officers will do a great job in the upcoming year. Ken Donaldson will do a fantastic job as our President. We have a great mix of young and “experienced” people on the Board.
I have had several people tell me over the past few months that they are feeling a new source of energy in our association. This is a reflection on each and every one of you.
There is no way I can express my gratitude and respect to each and every one of you. You have made this a great year for me. I truly appreciate everything that everyone has done. Again thanks to each and everyone of you for your hard work and dedication to our organization and our communities. Without the work you do our communities would not be the GREAT places they are to live.
I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Great New Years.
Thank you Very Much!
